This past weekend we stayed at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Atlanta Downtown, a contemporary hotel located in the heart of Atlanta's vibrant downtown area. We stayed here because it is within walking distance of the Mercedes Benz Stadium which is where Taylor Swift was performing on her Eras Tour. Our first impression wasn't great when we arrived because a homeless man was barking at us very close to the entrance and you have to have a room key to be buzzed in. Where I live, we fortunately don't have a large homeless population, so I'm not used to it, but he seemed to have taken residence on the patio at our hotel and didn't intend on moving. He didn't bother us the rest of our trip.
The hotel features modern and stylish suites, which are designed to provide guests with ample space and comfort. We loved how the room was sectioned off with the desk with a living section on one side and the sleeping section on the other. The suites are equipped with a variety of amenities, including a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and a flat-screen TV with premium cable channels. The hotel also provides complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property. Guests of the hotel can enjoy a complimentary hot breakfast buffet each morning, as well as a 24-hour fitness center and an outdoor pool (none of which we used while we were there). The hotel also features a full-service bar and lounge, which is a great spot to unwind after a busy day exploring the city.
The bathroom was spacious and offered lots of room for getting ready for the concert. The towels however were awful quality. If you are a towel snob (or have any sort of towel standards) you may want to bring your own. They were scratchy and thin.
One of the city's major attractions is located right across the street -- the Georgia Aquarium, which is the largest aquarium in the western hemisphere. The aquarium is home to thousands of aquatic animals, including whale sharks, beluga whales, and manta rays. I went to the aquarium during the day while Ben worked. I can't wait to take the kids back when we visit again. Guests can also enjoy other nearby attractions such as the World of Coca-Cola museum and the College Football Hall of Fame.
Overall, SpringHill Suites by Marriott Atlanta Downtown was a great choice for us because of the bargain price, close proximity to the city's top attractions and its comfortable and convenient accommodations.
