Save the Coral

As I've been prepping for an upcoming cruise, I kept running across warning in Cozumel that sunscreen must washed off prior to ending the ocean...which I don't my pale skin could handle for even the briefest of times under the Mexican sun. I then went on to research "Reef Friendly" sunscreens and thinking that by searching Amazon for available sunscreens would be good to go.

However, I found out that "Reef Safe" is not a regulated term and any company can add to their bottles. Even my beloved Supergoop that I brought up on an earlier blog is not completely reef safe.

Thanks to the Save the Reef website, I learned more about the acceptable vs. the unacceptable sunscreens to wear while I am on the beaches with these helpful charts they provided. So while I will still be wearing my Supergoop and Sun Bum while on the boat, I will get an option off of the approved list to protect not only my skin, but the reef.
